Bright and sunny weather conditions at the glorious HAC.
MCC won the toss and batted first (as per tradition).
Cam Edwards and Olli Lawson opened the bowing and restricted the MCC at the start.
Everything was just simmering, until…
Lawson struck the openers BIG pads and a roaring appeal saw him on his way. This was the catalyst to a brilliant spell, claiming 4-24, including three in one over, which ripped through the MCC’s top order.
Breaking for lunch (a lovely BBQ by Christine) the MCC 4-67.
After the interval and our tails up, Caviet and Olli Lawson bowling brilliantly in tandem, we gave nothing way and the MCC found it difficult to score.
This superb bowling and fielding performance saw the visitors restricted to a pitiful 124, on a pitch that was batsman friendly.
With two catches and four wickets, Olli Lawson has to be given a special mention. A great performance.
Their total looked rather low, especially in such good conditions and our openers where confident about knocking that off before tea.
However, this wasn’t the case. Fulton was unlucky to be given out, caught behind, and then Jones fell LBW cheaply.
Parry came to the crease making a solid contribution. King and then Matt Edwards came and went.
The nerves where evident…
But Skipper Liam Casey and Ben Rose calmed them. Both batting with composure, they saw us home. A straight six to win, capped off a fantastic victory.
Men of the match: Olli and Tim Lawson for terrific bowling and fielding performances.
Special thanks again to Christine for Lunch and tea.
