HAC ease to victory
By Liam Casey
An impressive win by 8 wickets
Debuts: R Sloggett wk, Chandak, Koutha.
Romany Batted first on another beautiful day at the HAC.
Charles and Parry opened up and bowled tightly giving the Romany batsmen little to feed off. Charles removed the opening batsman with a great diving catch at gully from Chandak. Harraghy bowling first change continued to frustrate the Ronany top order, bowling classic out swingers and beating the bat on many occasions, picking up two wickets. Koutha also bowled well and was unlucky not to pick up a couple of wickets. A brief comeback from Romany was stopped with Santosh removing their dangerous number five. Having made this breakthrough, we decided to give Charles another spell from the House end and with the wind in his sales, bowled a brilliant over that changed the game, taking three wickets. The innings was wrapped up by Santosh, taking two late wickets. Special mention to Van Zon, whist on holiday in London, came into the side and fielded well for the HAC. Also to Ed Haines who, whilst not down to play, offered his services at the last minute.
The HAC batted steadily and without much trouble against a Romany bowling attack that seemed to lack match practice, but, was in my opinion, a decent attack. Wilson batted well, in his fist knock of the season. Parry made an excellent, swash bucking, sixty five red and won the game in style, with four crashing boundaries to seal victory, in only twenty four overs.
The first win for the HAC 1XI this season and a thoroughly good display by all.
